So, the education secretary has announced today the freezing of Labours milti billion pound school rebuilding programme affecting 700 schools. However they are to press ahead for their free schools plan. A new school from scratch will cost £25m.
You have to question the logic of these. A few free schools in exchange for better buildings for 700. The good of the few outweighing the good of the many.
I’m not sure about you but this is certainly not a progressive government they claim to be. It seems to be again about benefiting the better off in society at the expense of the not so better off.
Parent governors only stay in the job while their kids are at school 7 years at the most. Then they are not interested, will it be the same as free schools.
In addition who has the time to set up these schools, certainly not parents who are both working.
Finally, why are we committing to spending billions replacing Trident. Yes I know there is a review but the defence secretary has already premepted that review by saying we will spend the money.
Does anyone seriously think that we would use it to, say, attach Al-Qaeda. How many other countries in the area would you take out as well.
In addition, if we were attacked do we seriously think the US wouldn’t retailiate on our behalf. I’m sure we can find better ways to spend the money, school rebuilding perhaps?
