Budget day

So we had the last budget before the election today. It was a nothing budget as was expected. It was a holding budget as none of the measures announced will be made law if the Tories win the election.

We have a huge deficit which we need to get down and the way each party will get down will be a major focus of the election campaign.

The stamp duty increased to £250,000 was helpful but of course it put the Tories in a corner as the stamp duty for over £1m purchases is now 5%. They have announced they will not oppose it.

Cameron obviously realised he can't oppose it or Labour will scream more class divisions.

It was a boring hour and not the most enthralling budget.
